UNITED NATIONS AWARENESS MONTH, OCTOBER 2017

Various UN agencies and some UN Volunteers  in Uganda have winded up the UN awareness month . It was a month with an action packed schedule of  participation in community outreach activities in four divisions of Kampala atKalerwe Market in Kawempe Division; Kyambogo Primary School in Nakawa Division;Munyonyo Primary School in Makindye Division and Kampala School of thePhysically Handicapped in Rubaga Division. The main themes have been, health and sanitation, food security and nutrition, environment and urban planning and education.

Activities included blood donation, free HIV testing and counselling, deworming, cleaning, desilting drainage channels, planting trees, painting classroom blocks, provision of reproductive health services and lots of entertainment. Similar activities will be carried out by UN staff andpartners in the districts of Mbarara, Gulu and Moroto .

Speaking on the 24th October at the occasion that marked the climax of the activities in Kampala, Ambassador Arthur Kafeero who represented the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sam Kutesa commended the contribution  by the United Nations to the development of the country. He revealed that 18 UN agencies in Uganda are contributing a lot citing UNICEF in the health sector , which has managed to immunize millions of children against several killer diseases.










































































































































































Ambassador Arthur Kafeero, the Head ofMultilateral Organizations and Treaties Department at Uganda's Ministry ofForeign Affairs who represented the Foreign Affairs Minister, Sam Kuteesa,commended the contribution by the UN to the development of the country. He saidthe 18 UN agencies in Uganda are contributing a lot, revealing that throughUNICEF, the health sector has managed to immunize millions of children againstseveral killer diseases.


"We are happy to have a goodcoordination and collaboration with the United Nations," said Kafeero.
