THE PERMANENT MISSIONS OF ISRAEL AND UGANDA CO-HOSTED AN EVENT ON SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

November16th 2017: The Permanent Mission of Israel, Uganda, Kenya, Botswana, and Sierra Leon co-sponsored an event of sustainable tourism. The theme of the event was "Transparency on options for tourism, preserving natural resources, and local population participation.

The travel industry represents 10 % of global GDP and employs 1 in 11 around the world. Yet on average , only $5 out of every 100 spent by travelers, remains in the countries visited. The travel industry possesses the power to impact every issue our global community faces. There is and immense amount of potential to harness the power of the travel industry and transform it into a force for good.  

In light of the above, the Event pursued and agenda to pose an opportunity to maintain Sustainable Tourism and familiarization of community and industry leaders with the importance of this issue and its positive effects ,particularly in African states. The deliberations focused on finding solutions to males sustainability more accessible to travelers, that is, how to make sustainable tourism options more transparent and available to consumers. By providing travelers with clear easy options to book more sustainable experiences, we can begin to shift the industry towards a more impactful future.
