Job Title: Information Technology Officer

The Permanent Mission of Uganda to the United Nations in New York is also accredited to the three States of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut (the Tri-States). The Mission's mandate is to advance Uganda's interests in the areas of Commercial and Economic Diplomacy,Regional/International Peace and Security and the well-being of Ugandans living and working in our area of accreditation. In so doing, the Mission articulates and implements Uganda's Foreign Policy within United Nations System to support development and peace building initiatives/processes of interest to Uganda and the region.

The Mission also provides protocol and consular services to Ugandan Delegations and Ugandan Community respectively and engages Ugandan diaspora to contribute to Uganda's Socio-Economic development.

Reporting

The Information Technology Officer will be recruited on local terms and will be under the supervision of the Head of Chancery.

Duties

  1. Perform the network and system administrator tasks for the Mission's networks (intranet/internet), computer equipment and software;
  2. Carry out maintenance tasks on the ICT systems and devices (computer network and devices, printers, scanners, photocopiers, software, telephones, videos projector,);
  3. Advise the Procurement Unit on the required ICT supplies and services,
  4. Ensure data backup for the Mission;
  5. Setting up and configuring new laptops and desktops;
  6. Ensure security and upgrades are applied and kept up to date on laptops and desktops;
  7. Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades;
  8. Checking computer equipment for electrical safety;
  9. Provide technical assistance to office staff as needed;
  10. Assist in maintaining internet service, firewalls, and telephone systems;
  11. Assist In software and hardware upgrade;
  12. Assist with maintenance of Mission website

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or equivalent; Any System and Network Administration Certificate will be added advantage.

  • Relevant working experience of not less than 3 years, in IT related field in a reputable organization.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work with minimum supervision.
