Mr. Shariita passed away at 11:15pm on Friday February 13th 2015 at the New York University Hospital in New York, following a long battle with Cancer. He has been attached to this Mission as Minister Counsellor and Police Adviser in Charge of United Nations Police Peacekeeping Matters. There will be a short memorial service at Trinity St. Paulí»s Episcopal Church, 311 Huguenot Street, New Rochelle, NY 10801 on Monday February 16th from 3:00-5:00pm (tbc). His body shall be repatriated to Uganda for burial at his ancestral home in Kyankukwe Mitooma. Further details will follow. Mr. Julius Shariita will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time and our hearts and prayers go out to them.

EXTREME WEATHER ADVISORY !!
An extreme weather advisory has been issued for the Tri-State Area. A severe snow-storm on the ground. The New York Mayor's Office has advised that ONLY essential services vehicles will be allowed on the road.The public transportation system will stop, except sp,e specified essential routes.
The United Nations will be closed from 1:00p.m Monday 26 th ,- through Tuesday 27th January 2015. Normal work is expected to resume on Wednesday 28 th January 2015.
In the circumstances, Uganda Mission will be closed for he indicated period, with normal services to resume on Wednesday 28 th January 2015

This is to inform you that the Visa and Consular Section will be closed from December 22nd 2014 - January 9th 2015 for the seasons holidays. Uganda Visas will still be obtainable at the Uganda Embassy, Washigton DC from January 5th - 9th 2015 and at the Entebbe International Airport.
