The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly implemented a fellowship for Harnessing Opportunities for promoting Empowerment of Youth (PGA Fellowship of HOPE), a new program which brought young diplomats /civil servants from underrepresented countries especially the LDC’s, LLDCs and SIDs to New York for a year of training, mentorship, exposure and immersion in the UN System. Uganda was privileged to have a representative Ms.Stella Kamukama who was among the 8 successful selected candidates for the PGA's fellowship for HOPE. The Fellows have been introduced to different teams in the OPGA Office, namely the Communications and Media,       Legal, Reform and Budget, Sustainable Development, Peace and Security, Human Rights and Humanitarian team. Each Fellow is attached to a team for a period of one month and it is going to be on a rotational basis.

To mark the start of this important occasion, PGA met with the HOPE Fellows and shared with them his vision of HOPE he got way back in 1980's when he was a young diplomat at the United Nations. He mentioned it was by that time that he got the understanding of multilateralism and wished such opportunities to be always created for Young Diplomats.

Also, apart from working with OPGA, Fellows are assigned to their respective Missions, where they can have first - hand experience in Multilateralism. Also, UNITAR offers workshops every Fridays of the week with different topics in Multilateral Diplomacy hence enhancing the Fellows theoretical understanding of Multilateralism.
