Amb. Adonia Ayebare on Immigration reform commision
Amb. Adonia Ayebare delivered Uganda’s statement at the first International Migration Review Forum, held from 17th May to 20th May 2022.

The International Migration Review Forum(IMRF) is a Member State forum created by the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) an internationally negotiated agreement, prepared under the auspices of the UN.

The agreement was formally endorsed by the UN on 19th December 2018. Uganda considers the Global Compact on Migration as a remarkable achievement as it is the first comprehensive framework on migration developed through intergovernmental negotiations within the United Nations that was achieved at a time when the narrative around migration was politically charged said Amb. Ayebare. The Amb. highlighted that Uganda had made progressive steps towards the implementation of the 23 objectives specified in the GCM, but also informed that there were challenges mainly in data collection and usage across the migration data collecting.
